The police announced on August 28 that a Canadian man was wanted across Canada in connection with the disappearance and death of the female victim and on suspicion of first-degree murder.

The police in York Region, Ontario, reported that the wanted man is Hu Zhixiong (transliteration, Zhixiong Marko HU), a 47-year-old man from Markham, a Chinese-inhabited area in the Greater Toronto Area.

On August 9, a 56-year-old woman named Mei who lived in Markham City lost contact after leaving home. His family called the police that day. After police investigation, the sport utility vehicle driven by the woman appeared in a certain area of ​​​​Toronto later on the day of the incident.

The woman is a well-known local real estate agent and a community activist. After the case was disclosed, it received widespread attention from the Chinese community.

On August 12, the Ontario Provincial Police found a body in Parry Sound, more than 200 kilometers north of where the woman surnamed Mei disappeared. Burnt remains. On August 21, the coroner confirmed that the remains were those of the missing woman surnamed Mei.

The police found a suspect possessing the victim’s property.
